On the Dutch Airgun board i found this Kral. I was planning to buy one of these Turkish airguns but never really got to it. The fact that i didn`t know anything about these guns must`ve kept me from buying one. But when there was one for sale for a measly price i didn`t hesitate and bought it. A six month old gun for some 50% of the price of a new one. Why not?
Well.
Lemme tell ya.
Well.
Lemme tell ya.
It`s a great looking gun, wallnut stock, 10 shot magazine, suicide manometer, 11 mm scoperail and a kinda Weaver like rail, powerwheel, aluminum bolt, threaded barrel and 330 cc of compressed air aboard, 58 cm (25") barrel, and a weight of 3850 gram. What more could a man want?
Some power and some decent groups at 50 meters.
Some power and some decent groups at 50 meters.
When i shot the gun i saw the JSB 25 grain pellets flying through the air with a speed of 213 m/s (699 fps). That`s not nearly enough for a .25. It oughta do some 270 m/s (886 fps) at the least! I took the gun apart and started working on it. First thing i did was enlarge the transferports in the barrel and in the powerwheel. Those measured 3,3 mm, i made `m 4,2 mm. That wasn`t nearly enough but it helped a bit. I gave me shots of some 233 m/s (764 fps).
When i took the valve out i noticed that the valvestem was very short. Just 3,2 mm! The transferport into the valvehousing was even smaller. 2 mm. Pellet velocity needs some healthy respiration. So i enlarged the transferport in the valvehousing to a more healthy 8 mm. That didn`t work out. The velocity didn`t change.
I made a new hammer. A bit heavier and i replaced the hammer spring for a tougher one. I needed a way to get the valve to open further so more compressed air would flow to the transferports. So i cut a M4 thread in the nose of the hammer. Since the valvestem is 5 mm the 4 mm pin is small enough to give the valvestem the extra punch. Since i don`t have a mill Marty and FOT helped me finish the hammer.
The hammer worked, at some 160 bar (2320 psi) the pellet got a velocity of an average of 267 m/s (876 fps).
The grouping remained horrible.

I am using an Aqua Environment Regulator when i`m shooting. Setting the pressure at some 160 bar (2320 psi) there oughta be some consistancy in muzzle velocity. Problem with using these kinda regs is the fact that the air intake port gives some resistance to open up and allow compressed air into the cilindre. When par example the valve opens at 120 bar there`s a span of some 40 bar to place your shots. It`s not hard to imagine that over a span of 40 bar there`s nothing left of accuracy. I took out the air intake valve. I was surprised, i`ve never seen one as huge as this one. The bigger the valve the more force it needs to open. I took the valve out. There`s nothing to keep the gun from firing at a constant pressure.
But it still don`t group.
But it still don`t group.
Today there`s another hammer made, better guidance to make sure the gun is consistent. The new hammer gives a little more speed, 271 m/s (889 fps). Dunno how this gun groups, i will find out tomorrow.
To be continued ......
To be continued ......
Krale in Staphorst sold the gun to some guy in december last year, i bought the Kral second hand from him. I was mailing a bit about this gun with Krale and at some point Krale offered to take the gun back so he could do something with. Change the barrel or such. So i did (and ran 20 red lights in his honor''oh no, that`s from Far Away Eyes from the Stones!). Last week the gun came back. Krale told some of the .25 barrels from Kral Arms are too wide and that causes bad grouping. This weel the gun came back with another barrel. I shot it today and to be true it didn`t group much better. A bit better yes but not enuff. Earlier this week i took the gun apart for some other reason.
There are not too many strip downs of the Kral Puncher Pro, so let me be the first.

The small screw at the lower rear of the action secures the adjuster of the hammerspring. Take both out and the hammer will appear together with its spring. The original hammerspring measures some 9 mm wich means it`s hard to find a stiffer hammerspring. The hammer is hardened so enlarging the hole in it isn`t all that easy. I devaloped a new hammer. Marty made it for me. The new hammerdesign increases the velocity of the pellet pretty much. Here`s a pic of the new hammer.
The new hammer made it possible to fit another, larger, hammerspring, power increased again. Just like i wanted.
Loosening the two Allen bolts on top of the breech will set the barrel free. The barrel has two o rings.
Two Allen screws at the lower part of the gun sets the airtube free. No need to take the pressure of.
Removing the end cap was a thing. Didn`t know how to. No thread so it`s a tight fitted cap. I used a long screwdriver and a hammer to get the darned thing out.
Tapping out the two pins will release the trigger group. Mind the springs!
The probe is a thingy, it is made of brass. The arrestor bolt is made from e mere M4 screw. It doesn`t last. I drilled a 3mm hole in my probe and cut a M4 thread in it. Maybe that lasts. The original arrestor bolt is too light. I truly hate brass parts on an airgun, brass is brittle and it deforms easily. I heated the front end of the probe and brought it in its original form. Brass needs to be heated, if ya don`t heaten it it`ll break when you try to bend it.
Here`s a pic of the Kral in the flesh.

Pallas Bull .22
Last week i got the chance to obtain a second hand Pallas Bull for a few measly bucks. This gun activated my curiosity in an instand when i shot it some time ago for the first time. we all know that this Pallas Bull is actually a Kral Puncher Breaker. We are lead to believe that Pallassports is some German (Hamburg) company. Personally i don`t dig that crap.
I was curious about this gun because i have another gun from the same factory, Kral Arms in Turkey. The other one, a Kral Puncher Pro in .25 was a disasterous airgun. Its grouping was very poor, there was no power in the gun. How are things with the Pallas Bull?

The Bull has a sidelever to cock the gun. Opening and closing the lever doesn`t give any problems. The actual magazines i got with the gun were fitted so tight i had to use tools to get the mag out again. To solve this problem i clamped the mags in the chuck of my lathe and cut one tenth of a millimeter of. Now the mags are fitting perfectly and can easily be removed. There`s 12 pellets in one mag.
The gun is rather short, 29" and that makes it a gun for plinking. It`s too moveable to score on greater distances, personally i have the feeling this gun is made for 50 metres.
Barrel length is 22" and the gun weighs 3500grams. The scoperail is a little low, it`s not easy to get your eye behind the scope, i have to find some sort of riser. Grouping is about some one inch at 50 metres.
I shot the Pallas over the chrony and guess what! The Pallas Bull (Kral Breaker) is the most consistent non regulated airgun i`ve ever encountered.
Take a look at the shotstring.
Kral Empire XS .22
This bloke at the shooting range offered me his Kral Empire XS in .22. He bought it without considering too long so after a few weeks he got bored with the gun. Since i once bought the Pallas Bull from him i reccon he thought i`d like this gun. Well, he was right. So i bought this little gun.
Some 63 cm, the shortest airgun so far. Does size matter? I really don`t think so. I haven`t shot too much with this one but the, say 100 shots, were a pleasure. One hole groups at 25 meters without any problem.
The Empire XS has one great feature, the scoperail is adjustable up and downwards so you never have to shim your scope again.

The Empire XS is no powerhouse but it packs enough punch to get rid of rats and pigeons.
The cocking lever can be placed on both sides of the gun. The sharp eye sees it coming loose!

The gun has a short moderator/silencer fitted. It does some work, there`s a possibility to put another silencer on wich makes it dead silent.
With a decent and adjustable trigger, an adjustable butpad, a manometer and a 12 shot mag i`m sure the gun is worth the money.
Logun S16s
Leaving the traditional airgunworld and entering the all new world of PCP airgunning some years ago i got stunned by the looks a the Logun S16s. I wanted one and fast. I pretty soon found out the S16s had a bad rep and was pretty expensive. So my S16s wish ended in the freezer and i bought a few other guns before i got to buy a Logun.
This was a reasonably priced used gun, it was leaking but is was completely original (the seller told me, later i found out it wasn`t exactly true), it came with the laser sight, the original bag, the box where in it was sold, warranty book, the pin for mounting a Versapod bipod, the lot.
The S16s did 60 shots on one fill and that`s great for a FAC airgun.

The text below comes from this site: http://www.loguns16.co.uk/about-the-s16-range/
Logun was a company based in the UK and so the majority of the S16′s were produced for the the UK market and to comply with UK gun laws, however there is an exception as explained below.
Difference between the Logun S-16Mk1 and Mk2
As mentioned at the top of the page, there was never a Mk1 and a Mk2 officially sold but the history seems to be that the first load of rifles to be produced were a little inconsistent in quality and so some were excellent and some were rubbish. A change in some of the internal design and apparently country of manufacture then lead to the ‘Mk2′ but they look and are branded almost exactly the same. The text on the Mk1 is embossed and filled with paint, the Mk2 is printed.
What is the S-16 MkII with shrouded barrel?
Again, this was not sold as a new product but there seems to be versions of the original S-16 that, rather than having a standard silencer screwed onto the end of the barrel, have a shrouded barrel similar but not quite the same as the S-16S. There is a slight narrowing of the barrel just forward of the forearm and no longitudinal grooves in the ‘shroud’.
We have also come across a hybrid version (only 2 so far) that are marked up as an S-16 but is identical in every way to an S-16s. It’s likely that the factory were just using up parts of the original lower receiver!

The S-16s is the first actual re-design and re-brand with the following changes:
- It came with a shrouded barrel as standard but it is therefore not possible to upgrade the silencer.
- No transfer port adjuster so power cannot be as easily altered
- 20mm longer forearm
- Upgraded bottle valve connections to make the bottle less prone to damage and leaks
- New design gauge and cover
- Bolt lock ergonomically curved
- Loading probe O-ring was moved inside the barrel
- A few other internal modifications
Logun S16s part two.
This is my second S16s. The one above didn`t last too long in my collection. But now, five years later, i bought another S16s. This one`s here to stay. I think.
This one has a home made quick fill. I needed this QF on the gun. I am used to shoot with a regulator between gun and pressure bottle and without a QF it`s not possible with the S16s. I have seen pictures of a QF that needs to be fitted on the bottle itselfs. It`s much more pro, but it`s a bit more expensive too. 70 quid.
I took the Logun to the range, set the working pressure at some 160 bar and filled the mags. Great, what a gun. Cocking the gun takes some effort but the feel of this gun is great. I shot one very nice group at 100 meters.
Yeah.... i bought a Logun S16s again. I have sold two of `m in the years that lay behind me, it seems i can`t live without a S16s. well, so be it than `ey!? This is the most original one i bought till now. My first S16s had a shortened barrel, the second missed the part of the shroud. This seems to have it all.
I still need an original Logun bag, if anyone has one.......

I did 16 shots in my backyard. That`s all. This corona thing has shut the shooting range.
After those 16 shots i had a strange feeling. "This isn`t a 12 FPE version, for fucks sake let this be no 12 FPE gun." Well it wàs a 12 FPE gun. If i`d have known i wouldn`t have bought the gun. But the gun is mine. I layed contact with a bloke i knew from the Dutch Airgunboard Luchtbuks.net. Slowly but surely i got a little more purry from the gun.
I took the gun apart, here are some pics.

I put in an another hammer spring and enlarged the transferport to a healthy 3,4 mm. The VO is some 258 metes perr second. I`d like some 20 m/s more. The secret to that is the transferpipe. To this moment i haven`t found a way to enlarge the tansferpipe. But i will find a way. I sure will. No doubt about it.
The second S16s i had had a nice quick fill. Since i am shooting regulated it is quite important to have a QF installed on the gun. The one on the 2nd S16sn was`nt the most complicated of `m all.
So i mailed Doctor Bob from drbob gunbits and asked him for a S16s QF. The S16s QF`s aren`t in his programme anymore but he made me one.
Doc Bob is a correct bloke, a bloke who knows what he`s doin` on a lathe.
Never hesitate to buy from him.
In the pics below the Dr Bob QF for the S16s.

Fitting the Dr Bob QF was easy. The Dr Bob QF is a great piece of work. Flawless. Not cheaply priced but worth every penny. Below a pic of the QF on the gun.
LSV Noarderloft is the ange i am shooting at. The only indoor airgun only 100 meter shooting range in da woild.
Somehow i got aware that there are two different trigger sears available. My 12 FPE S16s has the shorter vesion. There is a longer sear in the sub 12 FPE guns. I managed to get my hands on one of the longer sears. S16s parts are becoming scarse.
The longer sear gives the hammer morre travel so it hits the valvestem harder so it opens longer so the gun has a pit more power.
The longer sear gives the hammer morre travel so it hits the valvestem harder so it opens longer so the gun has a pit more power.
Putting in the longer sear gave me another problem. The trigger needed a very firm hand. So i took the gun apart again and found out the small screw fo adjusting the trigger wouldn`t budge. No shit! This gun is getting on my nerves. I hate restictions in airguns anyhow, 12 FPE, anti tamper and all that shit makes me wanna puke. I took the bottom searr out, heated it to get the M2 allen screw being cooperative but it didn`t work. The screw is stuck like it is welded into the sear. The fucking bugger! I managed to buy a new bottom sear at Chambes Gunmakers. After a few weeks i got it, replaced the old sear fo the new one, adjusted it and the trigger was good enuff again.
Below: The Fucking Bugger.
This is where the story stops for some time. I`m sick and tired of this S16s. At some day i am going to be inspired again and i will make new internal organs so this gun does at least 280 m/s.
Logun S16XS
I bought this gun from a Belgian airgunner. The gun leaked, there was no magazine and no fill adapter. I do have two mags for this type of gun but it felt like i needed another one. After a few eeks searching i found out that Pneumatic Ballistics makes new mags for the Loguns.
The world of Logun shooters is relieved.

Spa P12 in .25
Krale (who doesn`t know `em) sold the Spa P12 in .25 for a mere €329. A bargain. After being pretty inactive the last two years due to privat troubles i decided to buy me one of these. I was too late. Sold out. But a week later Kale mailed me that they found a last P12 somewhere on the shelves. "D`ya still wannit?" Richard Krale asked. "Yeah man, sure do."
I've got two other .25 airguns, the Blue Benchrest (the Daystate X2 customized special) and the Koejak (the mix between BAM B50, Daystate Huntsman and Hatsan). I bought this Spa to put a .22 barel in it. I think .22 is a better plinking calibre.
The P12 is a well made airgun, it measures 29" and it weighs some 6 lbs, the barrel is 18", and the tube contains 310 cc of compressed air.
There`s one thing i don`t like about this gun. It`s a single shot. Bullpups oughta have a magazine.
I took the gun apart. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well made this airgun is.
Lets take a look.

Like i said, i had the idea to change the calibre of this gun even before i bought it. So i did ('and i ran 20 red lights in his honor' Oh no, that`s the Stones in Faraway Eyes). This is by far the easiest airgun to give a change of calibre. The reason forr that is that the probe closes airtight in the beech instead of in the barrel while the needle of the probe inserts the pellet in de barrel. Because this guns calibre is .25 there`s no need to make a new probe on the lathe, it is enough to taper the barrel one pellet length to .25" or 6,35 mm. When that`s done the .22 pellet slides in easily.
The original Artemis barrel measures .590" (15mm), the replacement barrel measures .472" (12mm) so i had to make some adapters to make the barrel fit in the clamps. Two adapters for the barrel and two for the silencer. In a later stadium i have to make four more. I want to put some carbon 15 mm tube over the barrel. Nothing too much changed in the appearance of the gun.
Weihrauch HW100
For some time the Weihrauch HW100 was thé airgun. Twit that i was, i bought one. A second hand one, a specimen of the first series. The first series were lousy beyond compare. A piece of crap for a barrel, the regulator was afraid of temperatures below 10 degrees celsius. It was crap and i had it for about a month. The shotstring was so terrible i never even dared to publish it. Over in the Netherlands the HW 100 got fitted with a polygone barrel and a heating device on the regulator. What an ovepriced piece of junk this gun was.
The second serie was okay, a better barrel and a good regulator ande the HW100 become a topgun....I was glad i sold mine, never missed it one second. However, later HW100`s are great guns!
Weihrauch HW35 EL 54Barakuda
The Barakuda was an early attempt to get greater velocities in airguns. Ether was injected behind the pellet and the compression of air caused the ether to explode. The expolsion gave the pellet more speed. At least theoretically. Most pellets were blown to shreds, leaving the barrel filled with parts of pellets. The only ammo for this airgun was a round ball. The leather seal had a horrible time during the shooting cyclus. Ether is a solvent for grease and the enormous pressure the ether explosion gave made the leather seal deteriorate in short time. The purpose was to make an airgun with ammo wich speeded up to 1000 fps. It never did. The attempt was great and leaves history with a classic airgun. (I haven`t got a clue who made these pictures, drop me a line and i`ll give the maker his/her credits)
Weihrauch HW35E .22
When i was a young and innocent li`ll bloke i collected airguns like crazee. When some half drunk neighbour found an airgun in the shed he asked me what i was willing to give for it most of the time it was a HW35 and most of the time the neighbour wanted some big sum for it. All the guns i bought when i was young and innocent were given away. I kept one, a BSA Airsporter MK1 in .22.
A few weeks ago a bloke from the shooting range bought a HW35. After a few days it became obvious it was a HW35E. Offcourse i had some! My favorite HW35 is the HW35 Safari. I told Jo the HW35 was a relic from the past, i wouldn`t spend one penny on it. And two weeks later i had to tell Jo i had a HW35E too. He didn`t even tell me i was a crazee loudmouthing no good jerkface. Jo kept his cool.

Hans Weihrauch and his crew made a helluva effort on this gun. A walnut stock, hand-checkered, white and ivory coloured spacers, a 560 mm barrel, a palmrest and the Rekord tregger. The one i bought is without a safety. That means it`s before 1977. In that year Hans Weihrauch conformed to thesafety standards in the US.
The gun i bought was shaking, rattling and rolling, it seemed like Jaws took a bite from the fore hand of the stock, the spring resembled a banana. There was quit a lot of space on the barrel, the blueing on the barrel was lousy but somehow i like this gun. I bought it. Dunno why. I am the PCP guy! The last guns i bought were a HW90, a Diana 35 from 1968, a HW97K, an AA TX200HC and this gun. A HW35E.

This gun hasn`t fired a lotta shots the last few years. The triggergroup is fulla triggersmegma. It functions but no mo` than that.
The new spring is some 30 mm longer than the older one. The older one is a bit banana like.
The leather seal was in too good condition to replace. It seems the pistons slams like crazee when the leather seale is replaced by a synthetic one. I shot the HW35E extensively today and i`ve chronied it. It gave an avarage of 170,4 m/s and that`s 15 Joule. Pellets i used were JSB 15,89 grain. Not bad for an oldtimer.
The cocking lever makes an annoying noisy while cocking the gun. I The pivot points must have some wear and that causes the cocking lever to move over the coils of the mainspring. Jo gave me a sleeve from a HW80. It didn`t fit, too narrow, the HW35 mainspring didn`t fit in the piston when the sleeve was fitted. I couldn`t do anything else than take a aluminum deodorant can from the bathroom and make a sleeve of it.
Here`s the sleeve in the gun. It works great. No more rattling during the cocking stroke.
During the closing stroke i heard it rattling again. Fookin` `ell! The leaf spring pressing down the cocking arm is tired after 41 years. I put a brass strip between the cocking arm and the leaf spring, greased it and the gun is silent as a fart in church.

Been adjusting the trigger. The Rekord trigger is still going strong. This one had no first stage and no weight of pull. When the word 'shoot' crossed my mind the gun went off. I created a first stage and a pleasant second stage. This is much better. With this the gun is perfect for me. It`s obvious this gun has been used, there`s some blueing that has changed in patina, some dents and bruises and a chunk of wood missing from the stock. Never mind, this old timer is doing fine.
There`s one thing i wanna state before going on to the next gun.
I have never seen lousier professional welding. This is horrible. Looks like a steel turd.

Jo, a fellow shooter, has a new HW35E. He bought it this year(2016), mine is from 1975. Are there any defferencies? Yeah. The are.
Look at the pics and you will find `m.

Weihrauch HW97K
I had a few of these geat guns, four to be exact, twice a .177 and twice a .22. Great guns, maybe one of the best selling airguns ever? They`re a bit front heavy and they don`t carry very big scopes but they`re working flawless and you`ll hit everything you aim at with these guns.
And again i bought another HW97K. For a long time i tought i had my time with these rifles but after 5 years is fell for the HW97K again. Lotsa guys at the shooting range had one. I decided i wanted a springer too. The 100 meter matches at LSV Noarderloft never brought me any succes. I used a HW90 for those matches. Didn`t work.
I searched the web for a good springer with no plastic on it. Walther is great but has a plastic trigger and i just don`t want that. Guns are made of metal. As simple as that. At the end of the search i ended up with a second hand HW97K. JBA (Dzju-roon) offered me one of his. Thanks mate. Great gun.

We all know the HW97K is the Volkswagen Rabbit of airguns. It`s doing allright, there are no plastic parts on the gun and with some work you make a great gun of it.
Noarderloft, the gunrange where i am shooting told me there`s a HFT match in some weeks so i had to have a 16 Joule or 12 FPE airgun. Jaap, a bloke that shoots at the Noarderloft range too bought two kits. He sold me one of those kits. I decided to make a review.
I wanted some quality. The springs bought at Metura came from TTC / AGW in Bladel. To make a long story short TTC or Tiemessen Trading stated on its site that there was some sort of coorporation with Maccari. The springs i bought were pretty inconsistend. Rubbish. If these are springs bij Jim Maccari i have to drop him a line. So i did.
I mailed Maccari and asked him if he could determinate a Maccari mainspring from all the fake springs. He told me he certainly could. He told me there are no Macccari dealers in the wotrld, so if you do not buy the spring directly from Maccari you can be sure the spring is fake.
TTC sold fake Maccari main springs. TTC is a rip off.

I wanted some quality. The springs bought at Metura came from TTC / AGW in Bladel. To make a long story short TTC or Tiemessen Trading stated on its site that there was some sort of coorporation with Maccari. The springs i bought were pretty inconsistend. Rubbish. On my small lathe i made cups for the fore end screws of the stock. Aluminum cups and black Allen bolts. Like it oughta. Because of the enormous number of HW97K`s at the range i decided to make a brass safety bolt for the gun. Later i gave the stock a white spacer. Gives it the look of luxury.
Walther CG90
Once, a long time ago, i did some 10 metre shooting. I liked it, those days are over but i still like matchguns. I repair `m every now and than. The gun here is a Walther CG 90, a CO2 driven gun, absolutely recoil free. I suppose it was leaking in some way, i do not have the story, i just have pics.
Walther CP2
I have never been much of a pistolero. This pistol was leaking too and i was asked to stop that. I did. Beautifull made airgun, driven bij CO2 too.
Walther LGR
The Walther LGR was the first Single Stroke Pneumatic and shook the world when it came out. Immediately when it came out in 1974 it broke the individual and team world record. Until Feiinwerkbau came with the FWB 600 in 1984 the LGR held almost every world record. The FWB was easier to use and took away all the records from the LGR. The LGR was succeeded bij de CG 90.
The LGR is still a great gun, it shoot much better than most shooters do. But the LGR is aging rapidly and that means that the iinner seal of the gun, the seal that takes care of air being compressed is desintegrating. On the picture above you see some blue crumbs. Those are parts of the seal. A seal replacement is an expensive job, it`ll set you back some €100 to €150 when the job is done by a gunsmith. Doint the job yourself costs about €50 for a seal, 16 heart attacks, three divorces and the nextdoor neighbours leaving the hood.
The LGR is designed by the man that designed the Gamo MC. Both of `m work by the same concept.

Webley Patriot .177
Some bloke i got to know at the Dutch airgunboard -Luchtbuks.net-, turned up at the nicest airgunrange in the world. LSV Noarderloft. Jaap, that`s the name of the guy (how the hell you gonna pronounce a name like that `ey!) turned out to be a Webley Patriot fanatic. He`s got one in every airgun calibre. I was looking around for a springer for myself and one of my kids. Jaap recently bought this one. Take it home Fokke and see if it suits you. I did.
Over here in the Netherlands the Webley Patriots are rarely seen but they`re iconic. Sold in the US as the Beeman Kodiak the Webley is a true magnum air rifle. Even in .177. This one is made in Birmingham and is -according to them who know all about it- the real deal. The real McCoy. The Pat is still on the market, it`s made in Turkey nowadays. People say the Turkish Patriots are not as good as the British ones. I don`t know that. I only have experience with the Hatsan AT44-10 (what a great rifle that was, over 10.000 shots in eight months without any fuck up).
